the specified file,folder blah-blah blah. Anyone know how to solve it?

I have Vista 64-bit and i use Mozilla Firefox.

disable your anti virus, perhaps it's blocking access to the file being extracted

I have turned off my anti-virus and im running under administrator. Oh just to add I had Version 5.5 installed previously. Thanks for the help and i still have the problem but thanks.

reboot if you ran ce 5.5 earlier before installing the new one

I removed cheat engine 5.5 to clear the registry entry's (does it do that and does it have any registry entries?) and installed ce 5.5 about last last christmas and ran it a few weeks ago.

Yes I have rebooted. Does ce 5.5 make any Registry Entries?

yes, but the installer of ce automatically overwrites anything that could be a problem.

The only reason you can't overwrite a file is when it's in use or your resident shield/internet security is preventing access to the file

what file doesn't want to be replaced?

also, you can just install to any other location if you like. e.g c:\program files\cheatengine56 so ti won't have to overwrite anything

and if all else fails there's also the version without installer that you can just extract anywhere
