http://www.ehow.com/how_4493131_defrag-vista.html

I assume you are talking about this?

Code:
1

Click your mouse on the "Start" button and then go to "All Programs".
2

Scroll down and click on "Accessories file". This will take you to a list of programs and folders. Scroll down the list until you reach a folder named "System Tools" and click on it with the mouse.
3

Find the "Disk Cleanup" icon and click on it. An options window will appear, asking if you want only certain files cleaned or all files on the computer. Click the option that meets your needs. Remember that opting to clean all files will clean each file and folder stored on your computer.
4

Wait for "Disk Cleanup" to finish and then repeat steps 1 and 2. This time click on the "Disk Defragmenter" icon.
5

Click on the "Defragment Now" tab and wait for the job to finish. This could take from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on when the last time your hard disk was defragmented and how fragmented it is.

You don't need to run the defrag as it's done automatically when your machine is idle.

To see a more detail version enter command prompt
and type in defrag /?

I prefer the tool named Defragfler (Since it got a proper progress bar)

http://www.piriform.com/defraggler/download

And kls it is just Start->Defrag or *Windows*+r (?) -> defrag

Forreal? Because somehow after defragging on my own my computer got a lot faster.

I put it to defrag every day now. I want top notch performance Very Happy

Any other ways to speed it up? I lowered quality on everything and shit.

Yeah, you could kill unnecessary services.

http://articles.networktechs.com/27-p1.php

Will give you the idea. You place these in a batch file. I used to call mine game-on.bat and game-off.bat

game-on.bat would stop the unneeded services, game-off.bat would turn them back on after gaming was done.

Unlike using MSCONFIG, this will not permanently stop them, they will resume on reboot should you forget to turn them back on.
