My computer is confusing me, so i overclocked to 2.71 no problem on my Q8200. But the temperatures were a little high so i bumped it down to 2.62. I check my temperatures and it says 2333.3. i check CPU-Z it also says 2333.3 I go into bios it says i have 2.62. I'm confused. Programs telling me its at stock and bios says 2.62. What is going on. _________________

if you are running windows 7 be sure to be set to max performance. It will in fact throttle down to or below the default clock. Find the cpu tab and make sure its set to 100% minimum and maximum. |

Take a picture of your BIOS and post it here. My guess is that you're reading that overclock through multipliers that are locked. Q8200 can only go up to 6. |

You have either C1E and / or EIST enabled.
They are two separate things, look for both. |

what kind of board do you have? Most come with its own monitor tool which is more accurate in a lot of cases. I know easy tune shows my OC more accurately than cpuz. |

In CPU-Z, you need to look at Core speed to determine whether if it has reached your OC specs.
CPU-Z will still detect the original model along with its stock settings.
@Hero
His specs is in his sig. _________________
