|
|
Well, I'm a normal seventeen-year-old Indian kid. Plays games, watches videos, checks out some technology stuff, and I still manage to do extremely well in school (all A's), and ace almost all my tests. So, why do I need help with studying? Technically, I don't.
However, what really bothers me is that I'm not studying for one of the most important things that'll happen in my high school year, the college admissions test, also known as the SAT and PSAT.
I have trouble just sitting down on my own and studying for the test. Even if I go to classes, if I don't study independently I know that I won't do well. The PSAT comes up in a month, I was going for National Merit Scholar, but I don't expect to achieve it now since I haven't gone to any classes and have rarely studied up till this point. If I end up working hard and achieve it, it's a great bonus.
What I'm really worried about right now are the SAT tests. I've accepted that even if I work hard (and I do really want to) on the PSATs, I probably won't get a score of 210+/240. The SAT tests aren't until a couple of months, and I don't want to do what I'm doing now for the PSATs. In other words, I want to study early and get a good score, even if it's the 1st time I take the test.
What I really need is advice on how to crack down and actually legitly study for the PSAT/SATs for at least an hour a day.
If it helps, here's my weekday schedule:
Wake up, go to school till 2:00 pm
2:15 - 3:00 Read news (yahoo!, lifehacker, gizmodo, etc.). I don't really enjoy doing homework right after I come back from school.
3:00 - 5:30 Homework
5:30 - 6:00 Water the plants (forced to do this)
6:00 - 8:00 Gym (I only work out for an hour, but the nearest gym is 30 mins. from my house)
8:00-10:00 Combat Arms (Online FPS game that I'm trying really hard to quit), or goofing around (browsing the internet, reading random articles, etc.)
I normally go to sleep anywhere from 10:00 to 11:00 pm.
Weekend Schedule:
Lots of Combat Arms, Homework, Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Randomly browsing the internet, etc.
On some Saturday's and Sunday's I have to go to functions, but those cannot be avoided.

Spend less time online. Instead of 8 - 10 Combat Arms, force yourself or rather reward yourself from 9 - 10 by playing, for studying from 8 - 9.
Best of luck to you.

Yea , spend time online. Also, you can stop going to the gym for a while and just do some normal exercise at home so you can save more time, especially that 30 mins. distance.
