Every so often my monitor will go into power saving mode when I am using it and I have to restart my computer to get it to work again. I have noticed it happens regularly when I play Flatout ultimate carnage but it happens outside of this game a fair amount as well.

Edit: Looking around I think it may have something to do with the battery so I'm going to change the power settings around a bit and see what happens. I'm guessing the power saving option is better than the high performance?

Edit your power saving settings. I usually just go to the standard power saving mode and go through the advanced settings. This allows me to totally adjust my PC to my likings.

Nah, turning off power saving does nothing.

It happens to me too. If you have an ATI gfx card, chances are something happened and your card stopped getting enough power to run. Every time my monitor randomly goes into power savings I notice my gfx card has the "not enough power" LED on and the plug in my psu somehow worked its way out.

if it dies on you quickly when playing 3D games, the problem might be your graphics card.

try your monitor on a different computer and see what happens.
if you dont have another computer, try going into the motherboard BIOS and see if the monitor goes into power saving mode.

How can your plug work its way out? You'd have to snap the clip clean off.

Also "Monitor goes kaput, computer stays on but hangs" is a pretty classic PSU IS FUCKED, BAD SHIT POTENTIALLY IMMINENT symptom. Be weary.

Expansion of metal due to heat. The plug would eventually work its way out. I actually have not had that issue since I switched to 10.6 drivers, but anything is possible. I only have the problem when I play ijji games anyway. Before when it happened, i would put my hand on the plug slightly and it would tilt out of place. Thus it wasn't in snug anymore.

Are you talking about the actual PCI-E plug or what because the clip basically makes that an impossibility if it's latched.
