I have the pirated version too. You can play online with other people through a SETTI server, and I've also played with friends over hamachi.
Also, Addons DO work. Not from Gmod.org though, because Garry's a cunt and he recently made you verify your account, but Gmodfiles.com and other sites have the same stuff and maybe more than gmod.org.
