Asus did this a long time ago by another method, but it was lame due to the fact, it will only work with a external monitor.
Now this is quite interesting. _________________

ViDocks. Crude, messy, an overall PITA to set up and maintain. But once up and running it will be worth the trouble.
Now if all notebook graphics cards would just standardize and use MXM slots... | Someday, someday. I hope that laptops could one day have a standard shape and size, and you could custom build your own. One day this will happen, I pray. |

The Asus whitebook comes with a MXM module where you can install a discrete mobile graphics. Problem is MXM is not popular as the graphics itself are difficult to find. Not only that MXM comes in various types.

Now this is quite interesting. | This is the future. People will be able to have real mobile gaming computers. |

Once they figure out how to get more bandwidth, it will be the real deal. As I said, It's the future, not the present. |

MXM, full blown PCIE x16, but is fucking expensive and there are no market for it.
future Gaeming laptop sellpoint will Nvidia Optimus (inb4 Mac. MX11) or whatever ATI's seamless switchable graphic (upcoming 5870m Xfire)
Or just classic lanbox
external are really good just for external display, getting your laptop with broken LCD to work again. no average consumer would go through all the trouble setting this shit up.
laptop, AC adapter
external graphic, and another AC adpater, might have to hook up to external display
or just a single damn laptop
Because manufacture would make more profit would make Express port to have more bandwidth, when is only used for adapters and SSDs _________________

I don't know, somehow they make 9.6x9.6 inch matx motherboards, and even the most inexpensive ones (30 bucks) have a pcie 2.0 x16. Just like how apple put mobile graphics in a desktop and made a desktop computer with no tower, I think it's more than possible for msi to make laptops with desktop graphics, with a really really small tower (id est, the only thing not attached to the laptop being the desktop graphics). |

@phox
What the hell are you talking about?
you mean mITX board for LANBOX?
Those setup would run you at least $500 without a GPU
And what the hell Apple shit are you talking about?
the GTM 330 is not really something powerful, the selling point is seamless switchable graphic to preserve battery life, aka do what a laptop suppose to do, without carrying extra shit.
MSI do make laptop with desktop level graphic, such as their GX640, however at those point, is more of a desktop replacement. Something that will be next to a outlet 90% of the time because of the insane power draw
Want gaeming laptops? wait for Nvidia or ATI offer's next gen ( gf100 for mobile, 5xxx,6xxx) with switchable graphic and with more portability. Not buy a external graphic and expect fully blown performance. _________________
