I'll wait for an Intel alternative.
Don't like my computer sounding like a jet engine during take off. |

Sandy Bridge and i7 980X?
Aside, the X6 are underpowered because socket bottlenecking.
And yes, AMD CPU tend to run hotter and has less overclocking potential _________________

no, no, and no.
intel wont have a price competitive 6 core chip for a while.
yes they are slower clock per clock, this is no big surprise, it's not a socket issue. pin count will probably go up in the future if they introduce triple channel memory.
not really in regard to heat, but the x6 has definitely opened up in terms of overclocking. 4ghz+ seems to be the average in reviews, and they do well in threaded situations |

Lol, everyone is talking about intel lowering their current prices, but they haven't lowered them a cent. And they won't. Ever. Nor will video card prices come down. Ever. |

I need a new mobo, but my ddr2 would suck in this anyway. I'm going to upgrade all 3 and build a second pc with my leftovers. This core is gona be epic sauce. |

intel has no reason to lower their prices really.
but video card prices will fall once nvidia actually gets around to putting something price competitive out, ie a gtx 460. too bad they can barely afford the performance drop as is with how well the 5x series does. |

Oh. Think it would be wiser waiting for new versions of the 6-core or not? Are there major differences that can be made? _________________

The only thing is, when 3 cores go to max it UCs the rest and turbos the others. Not sure how that works exactly, but it be nice if that could be shut down. |
