I wouldn't say max, having the speed at a constant rate of the highest comfortable volume is almost always enough.

Keeping a stable 50 - 65% fan speed at all times during the summer is good stuff. In the winter if your house is half frozen, use auto.

Guys, the shader core obviously isn't 21474835°C. I believe if any part of your computer were that temperature, your entire house would explode in flames in an instant. Actually no, your entire fucking city.
There's obviously some bug causing it to say that. All the other temperatures are pretty low, OP has nothing to worry about. I doubt that when everything else is ~40, the shader core is going to be much higher than that.

that's a sensor, driver bug, the program OP using is RivaTuner, and it needs to be updated for the ATI driver for it to work.

 | Looks normal to me, but it doesnt detect the different cores, and just shows temps. What drivers are you using? The dvd it came with? I'd uninstall them, sweep with driver sweeper in safe mode, and Install 10.3. They do help. See. Mine shows my cores (shader mem and gpu).
