There's ants crawling around in my basement on the carpet and I can't find the source of them. They're attracted to the crumbs that have fallen on the carpet. If we constantly keep vacuuming them up (And avoid getting the carpet messy) will they leave? Or do I need to put traps/repellents or something like that on the carpet?

They will eventually go away, they're just taking care of the stuffs you guys leave on the ground.

Ants have been known to spread disease, I suggest you get an exterminator.

Shiiet. i have ants in my house too -.- They'r annoying as hellll. always crawling around new and on my desk. When i go to the other room to do work, there they are again.

i had the same exact freaking ant problem last freaking year...

they would freakin' be freakin' everywhere...

they would go on my computer desk, in the dishes, in my cereal (i freakin' stopped using the word "freakin'"... wait no I didn't)

I hate squishing those little guys, but i hated them so much...

so i went to the Wal Mart and bought things called "Ant Repellents" (they actually work Smile

) Two types - inside and outside use.

then, i placed them on their trails where they walk in a line. (at first they scatter, but eventually they get attracted to the bait)

also, they're outside too... in your backyard, frontyard, everywhere.

place some of them outside.

this year, no more ants... i think we killed them all

Where I live the ground is mainly sandstone, so they go crazy. I've found the best solution is to find the entrances to their nest (usually next to our drive) and pour a mixture of boiling water, bleach and ant powder.

Other things to do is put a small pot of sticky sugary liquid (such as glucose syrup) mixed with ant powder in your back yard. They all go crazy for it and it kills them, plus it keeps them away from your house for a bit.

Golden rule is still this: clean up any spilled food, sugary or otherwise.

I don't have that many in my house but the sight of them just bugs me. I think I'll try mixing syrup with ant poison once the weather starts warming up a bit. Thanks for the comments guys.

Get some Ant Traps from Walmart or something.

It's basically poisoned peanut butter. They take it back into they colonies, and kills them all.
