Well I don't mean to start flame wars, but I've always been a PC user, and I have a question on Mac's.

The only thing I've done on a Mac is go on Safari and browse the internet (on my school's laptop).

My question is, which is better to have? I know that Mac can't run certain PC programs, so why do people still buy them?
Do they have unique programs for Mac's that they don't have on PC?

there are some " use friendly and good looking " apps that macs haves and pc doesn't but they do mostly nothing that you cant do with a pc xP

I'm a PC guy and my sister is a mac

also buying a mac implies that you gotta buy a lot more of stuff for your mac.

Plus, PC is more customizable.

Yes, I can agree with that.
The only reason I can think of with people purchasing Mac's is that they want to fit in with everyone else, showing that they can spend grands on a laptop that's 'unique'.

@Engineer, I posted this thread to see if anyone can prove my statement above wrong.

Macs lack variety. It's not like you can actually boast your specs to people with the same model as yours. Doesn't make a Mac unique in any possible way IMHO. Plus their hardware is way outdated compared to PCs, which also brings up the point of non-customizable. Any upgrades you'd want to apply to your Mac almost always mean another grand out of your wallet to get a newer model (still sub-par compared to PCs of the same price).

My biggest peeve against MacBook Pros is that the alloy unibody has no heat vents, yet they have a fan inside them (probably venting the CPU). I don't trust a design that keeps the heat circulating inside the chassis while using the body as an extremely ineffective heatsink, thank you very much.

There is nothing a mac can do that a pc cannot. I don't believe there is anything specifically for mac. Anyway, you can believe what you like about viruses, but you probably won't get one granted you dont randomly download things. Sure, you could get a virus without downloading, but the chances aren't as high.

Macs are generally terrible by comparison, they just sell so well because most people don't do much and macs suit there needs without breaking down.

People buys Macs because Steve Jobs is a marketing genius. Macs look nice and really good, but when you break it down they really aren't that good. They are super expensive compared to the parts that are in them; in the end something like 40% of the money you pay is for the OS, which costs $0 to make (once they've already created the first one, of course). Macs are extremely user friendly and simple, making it ideal for people who find PCs too complicated. However, if you're someone who regularly uses a PC, you'll feel extremely restricted. In the end, Apple has proven that the actual quality of your product doesn't really matter as long as you can make it look good.

GarageBand is MAc only.
Funfacts:
the 27" iMac is extreme overpriced but has a 27" IPS panel( $1,000), which almost none of you people ever have.
macbook, macbook pro have higher battery life, more durable than your average laptop for the price of buying aluminum unibody and underpowered processor, etc etc
also enjoy your Foxconn internal on your Next Apple product(actually, everyone have Foxconn shit, check your usb port, it clearly says "Foxconn")

Is garage band a music based program? I'm pretty sure there are plenty of programs for windows that has the same abilities and features.

Personally though, I hate mac for one reason only. Its illegal to put OSX on your own build, and they are over priced. I guess thats 2 reasons. Not to mention, THEY ALL LOOK IDENTICAL.
