Function? I'm on a lappy. Videocard gets to like 86c when stressed to the max. 60c on casual use / idle.

Laptops tend to get hotter then desktops so I guess it normal.

eh, I meant the function. That's the normal setting. You think I should even attempt at increasing some parts of it? about how much is safe? >___> I might fry my videocard.

laptop thermal shuts down at 110C
60C idle is perfectly fine, overclocking on laptop is just plain stupid, as you never know what will happen, you can't fricking replace a chip.
leave it as factory setting or underclock it for more battery life

Lol, I would underclock it if I were you, now knowing that I would be able to. I jus haet frying my balls off with hot laptops.

The function is 100% safe. Usually OCing with what the gfx cards own control panel has is fine. Just dont up the vram clock. I maxed mine from 1000mhz to the 1200mhz it let me from ATI CCC, and I started getting artifacts on the screen with a 58c heat. Set it back to 1000mhz and left the gpu clocked up and it runs fine at 50c or lower.

Wow, really? I have to try that when the parts from my friend's computer that I'm building for him come and I finish building it! I got him a GTS 250.
