Cheat Engine

every time i try to open cheat engine and go to the process list and hit windows list it freezes and tells me its not responding, i've tryed reinstalling and didn't work, can someone help me plz

Ok, so no special AV, or online game that's running ?

Also, does your ce version have the option of hyperscan enabled? If so, try disabling that and see if it still happens (if you opened a process with ce before, close those processes first)

av=antivirus , certain av's like NOD, interfere with CE sometimes

hyperscan is located in settings->scan settings->"Enable Hyperscan when possible"
Make sure it's off
Also, don't tick the hyperscan box on the main window

And of course, make sure you don't have anything selected in settings->extra (if you had stealth enabled, reboot)

Then I really don't know. I can't reproduce this on either of my systems (win xp 32, and win vista 64)

anyhow, just use the process list for now

Check out your general settings for your cheat engine and make sure the
Save windows positions is on.

are any of you using some sort of tool that hides windows, or manipulates some windows api's ? (besides ce)

Also, when you look at the taskmanager and use the option to view virtual memory usage by a process, does the memory increase constantly ?

the only reason it could freeze is because of a while loop that runs until getwindow(..hwnd_next..) returns null

so unless you have something running that hooks that api and doesn't do it properly, I can't think of a reason why it's doing that

i know this is a post to an old topic but i figured i'd post a response for anyone that googled how to fix this. sometimes your anti-virus can have an error and cause this problem, simply close and re-open your anti-virus.
