my uncle wants to buy a laptop but he found out desktop is better when it comes to performance and he does not like desktop because he likes to bring his computer to other places like his friends houses
so would it be worth it to buy a mini-itx motherboard?
would it be the same with atx and micro-atx?
would the components of atx and micro-atx be compatible with mini-itx

this is a micro-atx board
mini-itx is smaller, much smaller.
a mini itx board is a bit more than half the size of that card
pointless to even try putting something remotely as big as that in there. some don't even have a pci-e slot.

don't bother, it's tiny for a reason. the cpu will very quickly become a major bottleneck if you're trying to rock some hardcore gaming on it or something.
the ones with the nvidia ion chip will probably decode hd content easily and i guess you could drop in something more if you needed it past that, but it's no enthusiast board.

You'll just have to chose. Performance or mobility.

is there a way to have both?
and if mini-itx is not good for hardcore gaming, is there a way to make an atx portable? a case mod perhaps?

Well, you could get one of those alienware latops. For 5kUS$ they'll have the same specs as a 1kUS$ desktop.
