You do know the performance of a CPU is not just determined by the Ghz right? _________________

get the e8400 as the e8500 is way more and is just a slightly higher clocked version of the same chip. _________________

Yeah, go with the E8400 if you're going to upgrade mobo/cpu. Your motherboard supports Pentium D, presumably not the newer Core 2 line. |

Hmm, On the Product description it says : Quote: | Enjoy the extraordinary CPU power from the latest dual-core CPU. The advanced processing technology contains two physical CPU cores with individually dedicated L2 Caches to satisfy the rising demand for more powerful processing capability. |
Just wondering if this Will work with my Current Mobo. Wouldnt want to waste $167.99 with free shipping ! _________________

Since you brought this up, I got cpuz on my aunts pc, checked. It has a 775 LGA socket. Inserted into google, she can get a core 2 duo. I think the 2.93 I posted came up from that google search.
At this point, anything is better than a celeron D, as its the shit of the shittiest. |

Everyone already knows that core 2 duos are dual core processors, and the rest is just...blehh. I haven't taken the time to look personally if it matches your current mobo, but judging by what other people said, I think it does. I personally would never buy a dual core at that price range, but that's just my personal preference. The question is though, do you know enough to put it in correctly? Cus if you don't, that'd be another way to waste almost $200. _________________

Oh, well as long as you have a good feel for the inner workings of a computer, you'll be fine, just make sure not to apply too much or too little thermal compound, and for god's sake do not fucking touch those pins. They bend so easily, and they're a real pain to straighten. _________________
