|
|
So I just installed Windows Vista on my brother's virus'd laptop, and when I went to type in the name in the installation I saw about 11-13 'two's. Now whenever I try to type the 'two' key or the 'at' symbol it just doesn't work. Does anyone have anyway to fix this?
The key looks fine by the way.

Try the key in BIOS. If it doesn't work, replace the keyboard.

You can get about any laptop keyboard online and they are not hard to put in. Its just a little strip of wire that gets clamped on by a plastic piece.

It might be a bit of a bitch to open up the laptop casing though.
Take it to a local PC Store in my opinion. They would know how to open it and replace the keyboard it without breaking the casing obviously.

Or just google it and do it yourself, I've taken apart plenty of laptops easily enough.

get http://webpages.charter.net/krumsick/ and map the key "2" to nothing.
this is what you'd want to do before spending money on another keyboard

I have the bitchiest netbook to take apart. I know how it is. Most normal sized laptops should have a panel above the keyboard you can unscrew, and then unscrew the keyboard. Mine, I have to take a small eye glass screw driver, wedge it in, then take a thin credit card type thing and try to wedge that in passed the screw driver and slide it along. Thus popping the keyboard off. Id rather just have screws.

I suggest using a USB keyboard for the laptop until it is fixed
