Your keyboard might not be properly mounted, try another USB slot.
To see if Windows recognises your keyboard, go to:
start
Right click "My Computer" (or just "Computer")
Click "manage"
And then click the last entry under "System Tools" (or something like that, im on Danish windows -.-)
A list of anything currently mounted to your computer which windows recognises will show up, look for "keyboard" and click the little [+] to see if anything is in there, if not, there is no Keyboard mounted, or there is no drivers for the keyboard mounted

I did in fact have that bug, but that did not at all cause my keyboard not to work, nor does it for the results google gives me, it causes the keyboard to not work properly (btw, search the same terms yourself, not many results, and what cooler is, your post is on page 3 )
To know if its the VMWare bug thing, let your computer go to your screen saver and then press any button on the keyboard, it should exit the screen saver, or so it did to me -.-, just didn't get any input from the keyboard (except for special keys (Win, Caps, Ctrl, Tab as far as i remember)
