I want to get this router: http://www.amazon.com/D-Link-DGL-4500-Xtreme-Selectable-802-11n/dp/tech-data/B000Z7AKGC/ref=de_a_smtd

But, he's like "Oh, the guy at BestBuy told me he can take all the connection speed for his Xbox", and he only uses his computer for Facebook... He thinks he needs 100% of the bandwidth for himself. Any help on getting him to buy it? The router we have now is old as shit.

You seriously don't need that expensive of a router, seriously. Your dad is retarded if he spends that much on it. Perhaps you should save money and get something cheaper - yknow, something that doesn't make you look like a rich retard buying it.

You still don't need it. If he only uses his PC for facebook.. what're you gonna do? Not let him on while you're using the internet. Facebook won't hurt you any. As for it's signal.. my wireless modem road runner gave me reaches basement -> 2nd floor fine.

The speed we have now is hardly any good with the connection we have, and it's an N router; do you know any other routers that are 'worth it' than?

That router is way over priced. I got the linksys N gigabit and it was like 110USD. Not to mention with no external antenna, no parents can knock them over.

Yes. Its way over priced. Not to mention parents like control of that stuff, and will knock over the antenna, hurting the signal.

I saw it had some bad reviews about range though. I was looking through D-Link routers, which would be more acceptable for what I have connecting?

I have:
2 desktops connected, 1 wired 1 wireless, both Windows XP
2 laptops, 2 wireless, both Windows Vista
1 Xbox 360, wireless N adapter

I'm upstairs and the router will be in the room below me.

Umm, any Wireless N router will do. I still have a Wireless G, and it works great with multiple computers and a PS3 all doing stuff on the internet simultaneously.

That N router isn't even part of the certified list
Certified N are Dual Stream or Multi-Stream.

And I perfer media routers where you have a USB port so you can plug in a large ext. HD for sharing across your network.
