It used to work on a preview version of Windows 7, but I've reformatted since. It says 'Lyromedia' on the side of it and it looks like the attached picture. I plug it in and it just installs something called 'V-Gear Camera' instead of the real drivers it should install (It used to just say USB PC Camera) and it's pissing me off. It's got a mic built in and that's working perfectly.

Its probably windows update thinking it knows what it is. Go get the real drivers, uninstall the shit windows installed, and install the correct ones. W7 thinks its a smart ass on drivers. It did the same to the crappy cam in my netbook, but it lacked the ability to use it in My computer. It did the same shit switching from 7600 to the final retail.

If they do, and the drivers work the same as before, use it.

It seems this camera is part of acer aspire laptops alot. You may be able to use the drivers from that.

Is this on an Acer Laptop? If yes, I need info about that, or if it came from one.

There is a 4720 laptop - but it's camera vendor doesn't match.. not to mention they're usually(always?) built in - but others who have had this same problem found help around the Acer website.
Connor: Others can't do it because the lost/broke the disc the webcam came with - do you have it hiding somewhere? Since it isn't built in (if you're even using an Acer laptop?) it must have come with a disc. Also, lol @ the lyromedia website not existing anymore.

My moms got a completely different webcam in her laptop, than my netbook, and the same drivers work. I begin to think they are somewhat universal.
This camera is UMpossible to find on google. Its either old, or very unpopular.

I've got it working since then without having the disc.
