a false AV got onto my dad's computer, running windows XP. ive tried removing it with AV, but it isnt found. any help on removal?

SpyEraser - sounds 100% legitimate!
Not really; try the standard Add/Remove prompt, it's possible it's just spyware (Meaning, it most likely tricked your father into installing it, and it doesn't function as sneakily as a rootkit/virus or self-replicates as a worm).

I had something similar a few years back and it would just reinstall. Malwarebytes is a god among virus removal tools however. Something so powerful, and free, its god like.

Plus, MB's file assassin is awesome. Maybe he could get rid of it with that?

and i know he wasnt trickied into dling or installing. he spazes out runnnig around asking people if he should dl something lol
