Linux runs on air pretty much. I am also pretty sure there are addons for running like, exe files. Compatibility shouldnt be a big issue.

MS?
For your first try on Linux, I suggest Ubuntu. I've only tried Ubuntu, and I am still using it.

MapleStory does not run under Linux due to HackShield*.

To run it, you'd have to use a Windows emulator.
Maple Story on Ubuntu SUCCESS

I'd go with Ubuntu, it's really easy to use, very user friendly.

seriously, if you're going to go the trouble of setting up windows emulator to play games and finding all these work arounds for other windows software, just install windows for God sake. If you want to run Linux so bad then dual boot it or use VMware. I see no reason why you'd want linux. It's actually harder to use then Windows, you have to extract and install everything manually, not to mention, are limited to a lot things such as drivers and real support

For the sake of this thread, this.
Though for the sake of principle, some points are debatable.
