Not really, Friend of mine had a 512MB card that outperformed his 1GB (Framerate). |

Can't you save a little more money and get a HD4850? _________________

Well I'm really just looking for a card that can play CoD4 maxed out smoothly.
I heard that the 9800GT is great but it costs $250 where I'm from.
I'll pretty much get anything that can play CoD4 maxed out, The cheaper the better. |

Save up a little more and get a 4670. Its pretty cheap, at least where I'm from, and should cost less than the 9800GT. |

Alright thanks, I'll see which one is cheaper where I'm from later on.
Any brand you recommend? |

Currently using a 4670 512MB in a budget build and is tackling all recent demands well. I always get 60+ FPS in L4D2 at 1920x1080, mostly-maxed. DAO is tougher, with settings at medium at 1920x1080 and getting a usual 80+ FPS.
I don't know how the 9800GT stacks up against it, but it looks like the price is pretty steep where you are, atm. |

I think I'm probably just going to get a 4670 seeing as they seem to be $60 cheaper and can handle my needs.
I'm just currently not sure which brand to get. |

I paid $40 for an ASUS 9600GSO recently.
Great deal, I run CoD4 at max settings and I get a decent framerate (40-60fps).
I can run DAO on medium settings 1920x1028 with at around 60fps as well.
Not to mention the amazing overclocking potential that the 9600GSO has. The equivalent of a 8800GT, based on the 9000 series, so you can do very well with it overclocked. I definitely recommend it for a budget upgrade. |

i would get the 9800GT, you should be able to run any current game. I have the 9500GT and can play all games on high and w/ 9800 it would be even better. _________________

9600GSO = rebranded 8800GS. Internally they're exactly the same. _________________
