Basically, this is a compilation of a few techniques that I've discovered. Now, I know these may sound a bit silly, but honestly, try them. This is a step-by-step, not just a list.
Off we go!
1. Get something to eat. Doesn't matter what it is, the process of eating will calm you down. Nothing big, maybe a bowl of cereal or a snack bar.
2. Perform a bowel movement. Ridiculous? Not at all. It's a very calming process and you can think a bit about what you want to draw during.
3. (optional) Look at some other artwork if you haven't gotten an idea yet.
4. Put on some high quality headphones, lean back, and listen to some music. I'd recommend Kak-Kak-Ola, Crimson King, or some Asia. Definitely some prog rock. Nothing upbeat, and only a slow song. Try to refine your idea now. Visualize it with your eyes closed.
5. Open up the art program of choice and take out your tablet and sketch out your ideas. Remember to be patient with yourself. If you need to, go back to step 4.
6. Motivate yourself. Offer a reward upon completion and remember that a good sized piece takes six to twelve hours. I'd recommend you do it all in one sitting, as it usually is hard to pick your motivation back up after a long break.
Chances are, the artwork you've completed is going to be one of your best.
A couple parting notes:
What you don't want to do is go on any internet forums. In fact, unplug your modem, close your door, and turn off your phone. No distractions.

We got a sticky about rippers, use it. Also, prove it first.
It's a quite helpful tutorial, but i think it doesn't help for everyone.
Some people use other inspiration sources etc.

That sounded like something out of starwars.
Anyway, just said that because as far as I recall, I haven't seen any of your art, and these things should be written from experience, not from someone saying what they think would help.
