I have a CD/DVD Burner+Player in 1. I can insert CD's and DVD's and play them just fine. But when I try to burn it says "Can't find CD or DVD, please insert". This is really strange because I burned Windows XP last week. The DVD's are good because my brother's burner detects them. Any possible solutions or is it just dead?

it happens. If you own the lenovo ideapad product line, that probability increases by 10.
I got my ideapad fixed three times a year for the same "bad burner" reason. Their response: sorry, other customers are reporting that too.

It's relatively common for optical drives to start failing by refusing to read/burn certain formats (DVD burners often quit burning DVDs, followed by reading DVDs, burining CDs, etc) rather than dying altogether. I'd suggest taking it apart and thoroughly cleaning the lens with rubbing alcohol + a cotton ball (not a paper towel or anything similar as they're much more abrasive) as it may have gotten dusty or something.

Sure, will try doing that. Thanks.
