Hello,
I've been trying for the past couple of days to find my first base pointer for World of Warcraft and it's a pain. I tried the way the tutorial teaches us, but no success.
So I tried reading what the disassembler was showing me. I can read it, no problem, it's confusiing but I can do it.
Now, how can I find the base pointer starting from this. In some tut, they told me to start from the part highlighted in blue and go up trying to find where the value was first referred to.
Here I go, the value I'm interested in is the one located at ECX because it's the one that is placed in the address which contains my desired value (in that case, armor class).
We go up, and we see that ECX's value is replaced by the value located at [EBP+0C] which is address 0012FB68.
Fine, let's keep on going.
I go up and find these reference to EBP, all right, pop and call, I don't know yet what they mean but I'll find out and edit my post asap.
THE QUESTION IS, is it possible to find the BASE POINTER using the dissassembler, if yes, HOW ?
Thx a lot to anyone responding with a helping answer !

pointers dont normally be lodged around each other..
the tutorials where just made that way so the code wasnt messy.
the best way to find the base pointer is to follow along as in the tutorial step 8.
im not sure how memory view works yet but i have noticed that alot address are hidden if you where to try go to the address hidden it would take you there and unhide it.
if you really want to do it all through memory view i suggest you learn what all those cammands do call i think calls up another address..which would take you away from where you are it would be longer in mem view than just following the pointers, pointer to pointer.
also are you sure you can hack in WoW never tried my self but if its anything like runescape i doubt you can.
i just read your other post sounds like its a visual pointer meaning that even if you where able to change it, it only changes on your side.
