|
|
I'm using the DVA-G3810BN/TL Triple-Play Home Gateway
http://www.dlink.com/products/default.aspx?pid=DVA-G3810BN&tab=3
There's QoS in it but it doesn't allow me to change bandwidth speed for each pc in my household
Any software/tweak to control or slow down the bandwidth for my housemate's vista laptop?
btw hes using an Ethernet cable and im using wireless connection
i prefer not to install stuff or remove the Ethernet cable on his computer but i can tweak it

Tell him to limit bandwidth on torrents, use a download manager to limit speed when downloading. Basic common courtesy, especially if you have a fast connection.

There is a "Firefox Throttle" add-on as well as an "IE Throttle" plugin that I guess he could try. Limit the speed to a little bit higher than the bitrate of the video stream..

I've got a system running PPStream and I'm still able to on my own computer BT with speeds up to 150-200KB/s and even watch Youtube.
If another one of my household computers starts to run PPStream (now both running that program) at the same time. My own system slows down a bit, and I will feel a slight lag, but it does not have a great impact on the task I'm doing.

I have ipTV so it slows me down even more when both ppstream and my tv is on
