Hey hey, so I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop, but also left my old (originally pre-installed) OS on it: Vista. But since I'm not planning on using it anymore, I'd like to decrease the size of Vista's partition. Screenshot of my partitions:

I'm planning on leaving the partition Windows 7 (C:) as it is (25gb). However, I'd like to decrease the Windows Vista (D:) partition to 30gb, which will leave me 114,08 gb of unallocated space, which I would like to add to Storage (E:).

So, to sum it up, I'd like to take space from one partition and add it to another. Windows' own partitioning application won't allow me to simply decrease one partition and add the unallocated space to another, I need partitions to be in a certain order, etc blaaa so confusing ._.

So, do any of you know of any partitioning program (or any other way) that will allow me to do this easily? Been searching for partitioning programs myself already, but I'm not sure which ones support my 'random' decreasing and adding of space =).

I don't really know about Windows tools for this (or in general), but you can do that easily with a GPartEd live CD/USB. If you don't know, that involves booting to the media, not Windows 7 or Vista on the hard drive. You might want to shrink the Vista partition to 35GB or a little more for the sake of time: NTFS piles everything onto the front of a disk, but there might be pieces closer to the end. If you can still boot to Vista, you could elect to run MyDefrag (jkdefrag), preferably in safe mode.

GParted has the capability to physically move partitions from one end of the disk to another, if that's the issue. Clarify.

Win 7 partition manager which is the same as Vista will not allow you to grab free space that's located toward the left side of a partition.

In this case you cannot increase the size of your storage drive

And if you want to increase your Win7, you can't since it's extended instead of primary (green border around you C:\

Use Achronis true image.

I'm planning on decreasing Vista (D:)'s capacity to 30gb (even for time's sake, got enough of that + have hardly used Vista, so I guess there's barely any any pieces of data near the end of the hard disk) and add the capacity that I'm taking from Vista (D:) to Storage (E:).

I've checked out GPartEd, already burned my boot disk. Hopefully this will allow me to do it.
