First off, not mine, kill yourself.

My moms emachines E620 was having problems. I ran the startup repair as its vista and it says it repaired who knows what. Now, when it boots normally, the screen stays black, not black with the screen lite, black as in off. Then after a minute or less it turns back on, and vista starts up the logon screen. Now I set it to run a chkdsk, and now its stuck doing it, and the screen wont show up after it passes the windows boot screen. How can I cancel it while I cant see? And is there anyother way to do a chkdsk /f /r without it rebooting?

I dont think it has a recovery cd.

To be honest your two options are for you are:

1. Get a OS install disc
2. Take to a computer repair shop.
