I need a computer, for all of my music and movies. The computer has to use HDMI out for both Sound and Video. And of curse it will need to handle Surround (5.1 would be nice, but 7.1 is preferred, i might add 2 more speakers) I want it to be as noise free as possible and it has to be able to play DVD and Blu-Ray. It will not be used for Gaming or other CPU/GPU intensive work, purely DVD and Blu-Ray and movies from a HDD.
The price doesn't matter too much, but don't overdo, keep it as cheap as possible, without loose of quality.

Any suggestions?

The only thing it doesn't have is a blu-ray player, but it has 1TB, Core 2 Quad, 8 GB of RAM.

It looks nice Wink, but does it really need a quad?, i'm pretty sure a Quad would generate more heat than a dual, which all have to be cooled = noise..., and i really do need the Blu-ray, 100inch display looks terrible with DVD's

it's hard to find a computer that comes with a Blu-Ray.

So?.
OP: what's your budget, and does it have to be pre-built?

HD movie streaming is basically a need for quad
and it doesnt generate that much noise
just install more quieter fans

That's crap. A C2D and a graphics card that doesn't suck will have similar performance.

erm, no, not really.

most GPU's will handle the majority of the work when it comes to video.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103714
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128394 - Comes with an integrated video card that will no doubt be able to do HD with ease.
Case + PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811108059
Blu-ray disk drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136176 - Probably the most expensive thing on your build, but you need blu-ray.
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284 - Won't be available until 10/30, so you'll have to wait 5 days.

case
hd
gpu
psu
ram
mobo
cpu

Assuming you already got the os, and input devices (keyboard and mouse), but if your going to put this next to your large screen HDTV then better off go with a remote or the Gyroscopic mouse.

Graphics supports 7.1 over HDMI

wow, elpacco and kls85, your builds end up around 100$ - 200$ below what i imagined, if they both handle BR and HDMI perfectly well, it sounds very interesting! (I get Samsung RAM for free, 2x2gb samsung ram would be fine, right?), Shota, i dont think i need more than 1TB hdd O.o, who would ever use 5? O.o
Karakawe, it does.. once you have had a BR displayed, you don't like watching Casino Royal in whatever res a DVD is O.o

Celerons are crap and you know it. The CPU I provided (AMD Athlon II X2) is marginally better and pretty much the same price.

@anden: Well, when you only have a need for watching movies and listening to stuff, the price drops like a rock. You don't need an expensive GPU (that can be over $100 off), you can do well with pretty much any dual-core processor (about $50 off), your PSU doesn't have to put out much wattage (over $50 off), and simply not caring about case design can be up to $50 off.

That is $200-250 off right there, that's where you get your figures.

you don't need a very powerful processor to run blu-ray/1080p movies. Refer to slovach's post.

It's not about who has posted the better specs or what not, it's up to the OP to decide what parts he wants out of the 2 list.

Also the GPU will be doing the major role when it comes to playing HD content.
