Depends on your hardware. If it's a good system, go with Vista.
Though I don't see why you think Vista is better than Windows 7.

I'd go XP. But if I had to choose between Vista and W7, go with W7. I've tried it once, and liked it a lot more than Vista.

Windows XP is better when it comes to performance but Vista has the eye candy.

XP, I run XP for 4 years already and last few months using vista and I only got more problems.
I'd pick W7/XP.(But not vista, its the failure inbetween them.)

Windows XP is obsolete you morons, Microsoft is slowly dropping support for it. It still asks for a floppy drive when you want to add drivers. Go with Windows 7 because of the general improvement in a lot of areas.

Vista isn't flawed from its designed, but plague as "flawed" due users who failed at adapting to the new OS.
Also you should thank Vista as if it never existed/marked as flawed, then you'll never get Win7 or have a better and stream lined OS.

Uh, what? There is absolutely no reason to pick Vista over 7. Not one single reason.
XP is beyond obsolete.
Windows 7 is the only logical choice right now. I'm not sure if you heard some rumors about 7 and chose to believe them without giving it a try, but it's by far the best desktop OS out right now, hands down.

I wouldn't go so far as to call XP beyond obsolete, since it runs on the platforms we are still using, and has most or all of the everyday features that are needed of it.
Don't get me wrong, Windows 7 is generally the better choice. Just that the three operating systems are not so incredibly different as people imagine.

Windows 7 > Windows Vista > Windows XP in my opinion.

I'll probably skip Win7 and wait for Windows 8.

Which would probably come out 2 years later.
Get win7 for now, instead of sticking with Vista or XP for perhaps another half a decade.
