I uninstalled VMware and it erased over 100 gb of files mostly movies and pics. I installed it on my vista comp and then i tried to install it on to my xp comp but i had no space on my xp partition so i installed it on my vista parition. But it failed and i installed and that was when it happened. 100 gb+ files GONE
Whats wrong with vmware...
now i get an error when i try to use the computer
something about a .dll missing and the boot drive is messed

Do not touch your PC since you might lose more data.
Download Get Data Back and use it, if possible - if you unplug your hard drive and plug it to other computer, if not - install the program to other partition. Try not to write anything on the disk, since it writes over your files.

I can't really grasp why this might happen. Basically, you chose to install VMWare (Workstation?) to a folder on your Vista drive from XP? Where were the files that you lost?
What K, Grizzly should work to get the files back, and as for the boot problem, it's worth a shot to boot from the Vista DVD and pull an automated repair deal.

Yes i tried installing vmware to a folder on my vista drive from XP
I lost every file in the download section except the vmware.exe installation setup file. The movies and music arent a concern to me but im wondering what happened...
I already reformatted so i fixed my problems..
