My computer came with a free w7 upgrade and I would like to know what will happen to my files? Will they be imported to win 7? will vista be deleted will everything go bye bye or will I have 2 OS that I have to switch between everytime I need something from the other Os?

You can either just install it normally, kind of like another program. It will overwrite your current OS, so no, no switching. I haven't tried that, so I can't say for sure, but it would be my guess that that would be kind of messy and you would have a lot of 'Windows Rot' from that. So even though you can do that, I would back all my important stuff onto disks or an external HDD and reformat. Now this doesn't mean take EVERYTHING. In fact, I would find this a good time to go through decide what you really want/need.

It's allreday out? I have it. You can upgrade from vista to w7 without formating.

An upgrade will install a new windows folder + users + programs. All your stuff is backed up into a folder called windows.old

Windows 7 RC to RTM went smooth, although you'll want to do a defrag and run the Disk Cleanup wizard afterward. The windows.old folder should only come up if you're doing a custom installation from XP, not an upgrade from Vista.
