Well I prefer Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP.

Windows XP is getting old because of the recent slowdowns.

As a user of all of the three at once i will say this:
Linux (Ubuntu + Debian latest) > Seven > XP.
Ubuntu and Debian are like, hm, twice faster than 7 and XP (poor old XP is way too slow even when its freshly installed). Plus Ubuntu got Compiz built-in by default, so yeah.

Correct.

But wine isn't that good.

Its sad how vista also has aero but it fails to windows 7's. I love the popping windows the icons on the bar, the lower then vista resource aero seems to use. Ive had vista and aero, and it sucks. The only reason vista really needs 2gb ram is cuz of its aero. Ive seen it run just as smooth on 1gb - 1.5 without its aero on. Windows 7 can run like a beast on 1.5 with it on.

aero is faster than no aero, as it's hardware accelerated.

I prefer the buttons from XP instead of the icons.

But then again I've used the theme on XP I just didn't like how the buttons work, they work better on the real thing so my bad.

I think Linux is no good unless you know how to code everything you will need to use.

for example, I work a lot in the Design environment, 3D art, Video post and Web Design.

most of my tools are Windows only or Windows/Mac.

only a few are compatible with Linux.

and Windows 7 x64 shows to be better than XP and Vista.

Ya but in vista it used alot more ram to run. Maybe its because windows 7 doesnt have the memory leak like vista did.

None of those are the "best", and you even forgot Mac OS X. Sure linux runs faster and is more stable but good luck trying to find similar windows software for linux, and don't assume wine can emulate everything. Windows 7 is obviously better than XP and supports direct X 11 which win xp doesn't. This makes a big difference while gaming. Of course, the decision is all based upon your opinion, but don't rate how good an operating system is based on it's GUI.

uh, the DWM is using 30mb for me on Vista after probably a month of system uptime. The differences you are seeing are probably from the superfetch tweaks. It's less aggressive in W7 and will generally not try to cache the shit out of everything it can think of 3 seconds after you start the computer.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM.
