I have Ubuntu 8.10 it boots from my 16gb USB

In our class we use a proxy and when I use it at home, I set it to the DIRECT INTERNET CONNECTION through the settings

My internet works

but If I do something like sudo apt-get upgrade, it will still try to connect to my school proxy

We did edit our sources.list file
but I put it back to default at home

heres what it consists of when I am working at home
Code:

## distribution.
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates main restricted
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates main restricted

## Uncomment the following two lines to add software from the 'backports'

deb-src http://ubuntu.mirror.rafal.ca/ubuntu/ intrepid multiverse restricted universe main #Added by software-properties

and this is at school
Code:

# Local network mirror sources.

deb http://172.16.20.200/ubuntu intrepid-updates main restricted universe multiverse
