Alright so I got all my stuff up and working, except for the video card. It said I needed at least a 500W PSU, but you guys told me I would be alright with a 400. I can't even plug in the video card because the card requires two 6-pin cables from the power supply, but I only have one 6-pin cable. I bought this other cable that could turn an 8-pin into a 6-pin and a 2-pin, but it has no 8-pins and I used both 4-pins to plug into the motherboard. So now I really DO need another power supply. So can you guys help me find one that does work?

I would prefer not to buy a fuckhuge overkill one, when all I need is 500W. That is really the only problem I have.

hmm, you can probably get a converter.

molex to 6 pin comes to mind. if you don't have a free one, get a splitter.

Doesn't your video card ship with a dual 4-pin molex to 6-pin PCIe?

It didn't come with that, but I went out and bought one. It doesn't matter, because the PSU only has two 4-pins.

The 4-8pin aux connector (2 4pins as you called it) is only for your motherboard. Plug that to your graphic card and you will damage it.

4-pin molex connectors are flat (4x1), rather than in a 2x2 (4-pin mobo) or 4x2 (8-pin mobo) configuration. It's a huge difference, like kls said.

Well I wouldn't be doing that anyway, seeing as then I would have nothing to plug into my motherboard.

So do I have to now buy a 500W PSU, and return the one I have now?

If you want to then yes, but you can just do what they told you to do.
And if you want to change your GPU later on, it's better to just get a Corsair PSU, since it's reliable and does the job well done.

um, typically you'll be powering fans and hard drives with your molex connectors, not anything on your mobo.

i think you are confused.

On your other thread, you mentioned you went ahead and got a HD 4870.
Exactly which one did you get cause the one I've got for my friend comes with tons of accessories and also has a 2x molex to 6pin PCIe.

These cables are usually place at the very bottom of the packaging and hidden from view. Did you open up the whole box?

Post a link to the exact one you ordered.

I ordered this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131148
And it came with no molex to 6-pin cable. However, I think that might be what I bought. I has two molexes (I now know what they are), that goes into a 6-pin and a 2-pin, and those branch off onto another 6-pin and 2-pin. Is that what you guys are talking about? The two molexes in there are missing pins, one only has 3 and one only has 2.

My video card claims to require 500W, but my power supply is only 400W, so...
