I have a 54mbps router currently
Is this suppose to not affect my connection while im gaming on my XBOX 360?
well I mean if I were to have a 108mbps router or a 300mbps router
will that make my connection better than it already is?
I heard even the cheapest router out there wont affect your connection on XBOX live if you are on a wired connection

And no. That is just how fast your router can go, but that is not how fast your connection is. Your connection speed is determined by your ISP, not your router.

depends on what internet you have. Say for example if you signed up with your ISP for a 5 mbps connection, you will see absolutely no difference in speed from a 108mbps router or a 300mbps router since your connection speed is only 5 mbps, so unless you had a 200 mbps connection you would only then need a 300 mbps router.

as elpacco said, its ridiculous for anyone to have such a high connection speed so any router would do just fine, also I don't have an xbox so I'm not sure why you're experiencing lag.

-caps.
You might try setting QoS priority for the XBox if you can do that in your router's configuration page. That should serve to keep down lag while somebody on the network is downloading or uploading, etc.

I have the QOS page but see nothing to set XBOX to priority
all i am seeing is HTTP, FTP, TELENet, SMTP , POP3, and 3 others that let me put in a specific port
but the xbox has more then 3 ports i think its like 4 or 5 i portforwarded
