In need of a freeware iPod to PC transfer, I have about 40 gigs of music on my iPod and 20 gigs of video and I need to transfer it to my PC, so I can put it in my iTunes again. I've tried many programs and it only allows me to transfer 1000 songs then it stops, which sucks because I have a lot more. :\

So if you know of any good iPod to PC program, post em here.

If you set your iPod to mount as a HDD, then you could just do it manually?

What kind of iPod do you have? For all iPods other than the Touch, you can just attach through USB, find in My Computer, and go to the iPod_Control folder. In this folder will be a Music folder. In that folder, there will be a shitload of other folders with random four or five character names, and in those folders will be MP3s, your music. Completely randomized, and also renamed, but there.

It's an iPod classic, and I want the names for iTunes, so I know what I am listening to.

Doesn't store song names and stuff.

Uncheck in your iTunes preferences the Organize music folder box (I believe it is unchecked by default). Then import all the songs. Then go back and recheck that box. It'll take a REALLY long time (like over a day likely), but it'll do it.

And even without doing that, the songs will still have all their original information while in iTunes, what I just told you to do will fix the filenames. You don't have to do this unless you care about finding the song files.

Tyler.
You go into your ipod and do what that guy said.
Use WinSCP.
The names will be randomized, but when played in itunes, they all retain their original information.

As you can see, all teh info was retained about the song, just the name was changed to WEGWEG
