Clearly your brother destroyed your computer.

I believe the first step would be a safemode start, if you can get to that point... not sure I remember any kind of loading bar for XP, it was more like some green dots that move to the right and then reappear on the left usually about 10 or more times before it loads.

Try making/finding a windows XP disc and using the startup recovery.

Right before the thing you're talking about happens, you should see some gray vertical lines near the bottom of your screen. That is a loading bar before the screen you're talking about, and you usually only see it for about half a second. He is saying that his stops.

@OP: The same thing happened with me a while ago. Just keep restarting, eventually it will work.

Sounds like your hard drive is fried. Have you noticed it making any clicking sounds?

No matter what, your operating system is non-functional as it stands now... rebooting more than once isn't going to help.

You have a few options but all of them involve a windows install disc, which can be easily found online. Use the "Repair" option and if that doesn't work, you'll need to reformat.

I'm sure you don't want to lose your data so there's a few things you can do. If you hard drive is just corrupted and not fully bricked but windows repair doesn't work, you can use GParted to create a new partition in your blank space and install windows on that partition.

From there you should be able to access your old files if windows recognizes the old partition as a logical drive, otherwise you will need to use some data recovery software on the partition to recover your files.

If your hard drive is clicking that means that one of the write heads is striking one of the platters or the drive is repeatedly trying to recalibrate itself and failing. It's a quite common failure, often caused by sudden shock to the HDD, excessive dust damaging the delicate components of the HDD, manufacturing error, etc. Unfortunately the drive will need replaced.

so I can't just pop in a installation disk.I have to get my comp repaired by a mechanic or is there another way?

You can try putting an OS disc and see what happens, if that doesn't work, you're better off going to the computer place so they can fix it for you so you won't fuck it up when you try doing shit to it.

If you can use a screwdriver you don't need a professional to replace your drive. It's just a matter of opening laptop (unscrewing a few screws at most), disconnecting a cord and replacing the drive.

Reinstalling the OS won't fix a hardware issue, but I suppose you can try. Be aware that if the drive hasn't already failed (as in, not powering up at all), it probably will fairly soon.
