I have a basic 2 port modem, one spot plugs into the computer, one plugs into the internet cord and 1 can plug into my xbox live cord, I CANNOT have the xbox live AND my computer access the internet at the same time, is there a way I can somehow access the internet on both machines at the same time? This is what it looks like

You'd have to get the $99 wireless adapter for your XBox.

| Lol that's not a router it's a modem and buy a router and hook it up then you can either plug a ethernet cable from the router to the xbox or buy the xbox wireless adapter.

What you've got is a about as basic as a modem can get (rather than the router/modem bullshit I see constantly). It has no routing capabilities whatsoever and is only capable of providing one device with a connection at any one time, even if you were to connect it to the computer via USB and xbox via ethernet. You'll need to buy a basic router to connect both devices at once.

You do have a chance to use Internet Connection Sharing (google it) with your windows desktop pc if you have a free rj-45 ethernet slot open on your computer. fyi this is what im doing for my xbox, except over wireless
