The computer I am currently on is an compaw presario. The processor is Intel Celeron Processor 440. This computer currently has 2 gigs worth of RAM and I have another computer that has 3 gigs. I want to take 1 gig of ram from that one and attach it to this computer but I'm not sure how to do it, or if it is compatable. The 3 gig ram computer's processor is amd athlon x2 7550 dual core processor (also a compaw presario).

I would really appreciate it if someone can find out if switching the ram is compatable and how to physically switch it. Thanks a lot.

You shouldn't add 1gb of ram to the other computer since its part of the ram on the other computer and it might not be compatible.

Really? Good job stating what he already knows. How about you help him try to find out of it's compatible?

@OP: Give us info on both sticks of RAM... cpu-z should help if you can't find it elsewhere.

Both of those CPUs use DDR2 RAM -- just swap the RAM and you should be good to go.

Typically it wouldn't fit if it wasn't the right kind of RAM, and it's not like you can hurt anything anyway.

On the motherboard you'll see the RAM sticks, on each end of the sticks of RAM you'll see some plastic things that hold the RAM in place -- you'll need to push these down so that the RAM can come out of its socket. Then just put it in the other computer and make sure you push it firmly into the socket.
