I don't think torrenting will destroy and burn your graphics card into hell. I've never done this myself, and before you try this method, get someone else to say that it is safe to do so, because I am unsure. For real, I don't want it to be my fault if you can't see shit.

Open device manager (control panel -> System -> Hardware -> device manager) and go to display adapters. You should see your graphics card name. Right click it and click disable.

Perhaps it is. I am curious myself if it is safe.

If you disable your graphic card, you won't get to see anything on your monitor. If you can't see a damned shit, you can't re-enable it.

If it's a graphic card you're NOT currently using, simply remove it from your computer.. Why would one actually more than one card for daily usage anyways?

I'd thought that laptops with both types of graphics cards would switch between them for desktop use and gaming/video/etc.

What line of laptop is this?

You gotta have the motherboard that supports that, there's motherboards that will use on-board video if your not doing anything that requires a lot of graphics power. If you don't have a motherboard like that I don't see how it can be done.
