My dad promised to give me Windows 7 Ultimate when its out, and im going for the 32bit version

I got a laptop with 2,53ghz core 2 duo (i looked up at intel's website, and it does support "64 bit computing", 4 gigs of ram and a 9300M GS/Intel Graphics Accelerator of some kind, its currently running a 32bit Windows Vista Business

Just wondering, would i have any improvements upgrading from 32 to 64 bit?, and what specs do i at least want before getting any adventage of upgrading to 64 bit?

And, does a 64bit cpu steal more of my battery life, than 32bit does?

64bit can run everything from a 32bit
the difference is that with the 32bits you use "3.something"GB amount of ram and with the x64 you use the 4GB

Even drivers? Can you use x86 drivers on 64bit?

Nope. They all do.

cheat engine doesn't offer 64-bit drivers for it's kernel debugger (which is useful for stuff like cloakedit and invibug)

I did aswell look it up on the company's website, and they both had a complete set of 32bit drivers and 64bit drivers......

The interesting side of it:
If you wanted to get technical about performance, I'm sure a gain is possible since you have more registers to play around with, but on the other hand... 64 bit addresses are twice the size, which may increase memory consumption and they of course, take up more cache space.

Don't expect major performance gains, however they are certainly real - especially in applications designed with it in mind... say for example taking advantage of all that memory and caching a huge amount of shit in memory instead of hitting the hard drive non stop.

The realistic side of it:
You probably wont notice anything major.

The general rule is that if your hardware allows it and you've got the choice, go 64-bit.

My Vista for some reason addresses 3584 mb ram, thought it shouldnt go any higher than 3072, how does it do that?, and i know that it wont do it on Windows 7

And if i go 64bit, will i then get any software combitability issues?, i know that Olly doesnt support 64 bit, so im wondering if there is any alternative?, and i suppose Cheat Engine does neither?

And i suppose it's only the Processor that needs 64bit processing technology?, no requirements for the motherboard? (i know that my comp supports it, since others with the exact same comp has installed 64bit)
