hi, im downloading a certain file, the estimated download time is 15 hours
i want to know if will my download continue when i enter the standby mode
(to save electricity while downloading for 15 hours)

i dont think it will continue but i dont think u would save much on that. I have my comp on more than 15 hr a day lols, it does not use much of electricity if its not under load.

Nope! Standby is a power saving mode. Hard disks and processor don't run during that. Only memory contents are kept. I suggest you only turn off your screen.

| I've heard that certain Asus boards has a sleep mode function where it will turn off uncessary components and set your CPU to the lowest state as possible while still let you download or run background task.

I think it depends on your motherboard/BIOS configuration. My laptop cant download while in stand-by but my desktop can, so it really depends on your machine...

standby keeps power to RAM.
as such, it's fast, both in shutting down and coming back.
hibernate flushes your RAM to your hard drive.
this is obviously slower, but has the advantage of you still being able to resume should you lose power.
vista uses both when it sleeps if i remember right, it will sit in standby for a certain amount of time before hibernating.
