|
|
recently my father bought a 512KB/s package and my cable modem should go 512KB/s or about 300KB/s~512KB/s in range.
but why is my always 60KB/s all the time?
i've been waiting it to go 100KB/s for one week.
why is this happening?

He bought a 512Kbps, which means you're getting 64KBps maximum.
It's all in the bits and bytes.

To convert from Kbps to KBps (KB/s) divide by 8. Also remember that 1 Mbps is 1000 Kbps.
So 1Mbps cable has a maximum download speed of 125 KB/s.

All ISPs do it, who would not give up the chance to legally market up their product by 800 percent?

to be able to reach over 10Mbps is to create your own ISP using windows server and get some workstation networking?

What?
I'm on 10Mbps (1.25MB/s) broadband with Virgin Media, and it's not even their fastest package. I'd get their 50Mbps (6.25MB/s) package if I could afford it. They're rolling out 100Mbps next year, and they're currently working on a 200Mbps package too.
You must either be in the middle of freaking nowhere or have a sucky choice in ISP to be getting such slow access.
