Cost less than what? Video cards can cost anywhere between $25 and $800.

What's the model of your computer? You can find on the chassis.
Alternatively, download and run the program CPU-Z and check the motherboard field.

Me and my bro have this one:

Asus Geforce 9500GT 512MB [69 euro]

Works fine, supports most games I think.

Most newer cards seem to require a PCI Express x16 slot, which is a lot faster but your computer might not have if it's an older model. If you can't get one of those, the next best thing would be an AGP card, which are harder to find. Finally, the slowest type is PCI, which you won't need to get unless your computer is more than 10 years old.

I recently bought a new VisionTek - ATI Radeon HD 3650 1GB DDR2 AGP Card. It works well and happens to be one of the only two AGP cards on the BestBuy website. The other one sucks, so if you are planning on shopping at BestBuy and don't have PCI Express I would recommend it.

Some other things to consider are what kind of output connectors it has for monitors, depending on what your monitor needs (some examples are VGA, S-video and DVI) and whether it supports overclocking (if you know what that means and want to use it). Keep in mind, though, that overclocking voids your warranty.
