If you want to record your Voice using a microphone then plug the Mic into the Microphone Jack.
Then run Sound Recorder to test if it is working.
If it still isn't working, download and install the latest sound card drivers, and check the sound recorder settings...
If you want to record windows then
Right Click the Sound Icon in the system tray and select Recording Devices.
Then Right click empty space and tick both options...
You should now be able to see Stereo...
Select it as the default... _________________

SWAT - That's a really bad idea. You'll get a horrible buzz from the output DAC's clock being out of sync with the microphone DAC. You'll also get a bad quality transfer from the input filtering on the microphone socket.
Look for some software called Virtual Audio Cables, also known as VAC. Install it and set the default audio output device in Windows to the VAC cable. Run an audio recording program (Audacity or something) and set the recording device to the VAC cable too. Anything played out of Windows is then piped directly through the virtual cable into the recording software.
There's very little latency, and the sound quality is literally perfect. _________________
