My school uses crappy Wifi passwords to keep there servers "locked" they always get leaked, instead of waiting for our friend to beg his grandmother to give him the new password, I would like to know if I am able to sit out with my laptop and use Cain and Able to sniff my schools WiFi signals for a password. I am pretty sure that C&A can't do it alone, but I would just like to know if only C&A will work, I don't feel like installing Linux of ubuntu on a start up disk with Airsoft and aircrack to just find a password so i can check my email on my itouch......
I know C&A is able to find passwords for things such as yahoo and anything that a person types into the computer name and password wise, but the computers have a set......ohh......11?? pass phrase i believe, I almost want to say when I tried to see if there WiFi router had a pass i tried the default and it didn't work, but I think it was 10.0.0.1.. If it IS plausable to use only C&A to get the passwords from the networks signals to other PC's please let me know if not just say no, I don't want a 4 page long rant about how I am stupid and I am wrong, just tell me if my theory is right or not please. Thank you. Have a nice evening/morning.

Hey, haven't talked to you in a while like... months or years...
Anyway, depending on your wireless card, it wont work at all!

Wi-Fi passwords are stored locally on each machine with a wireless adapter, just get a laptop and find the password from there. Cain can do that on its own, but you may need to login to an administrator account. There's no need to crack it if you have direct access to a computer that is on the network. And considering it's a school password, you could probably brute force or even use a wordslist to crack it within a few minutes.

Someone tried to bruteforce something at my school and they had a defensive mechanism... Where everything completely denies access.

My schools isn't that good, but I I cant get C&A on the computers without the IT guy finding out it was used on the machine. Brute force is a tad more risky due to the extensive amount of time they spend over your shoulder. So back to me sitting in the parking lot with my laptop....... Any way?
