|
|
So like, I've had this flash drive for 3 months already and it was working great until yesterday. When I put it in a usb slot, the light on the usb remained on and when I looked for the drive in My Computer it was named removable disk and when i tried to open it, it said it cant because it's not valid or please insert a drive into removable disk.

Remove and replug. Maybe your computer haven't detected your USB yet.
If that fails, try the other USB ports.

Right Click My Computer > Manage > Disk Management
Screen Shot the drives in that window.

Maybe a chkdsk /f?
If you just want to know if the drive works, format it and see if it's recognizable again.
Else, the USB connector may have been pulled from the board itself.

The USB light is on, so a faulty connection could be possible. Physical disconnection in this case is not really probable since the light is on.

Have you tried typing the drive name directly into the location bar?
I don't use Vista, so I'm not too familiar with the layout.

As a last resort IF all else fails.
If you can see it in the Disk Management, right click it and Format it...
WARNING: This will delete all data stored on it...

It's either Disk 1 or Disk 2 (G and E respectively). Open My Computer and unplug it, then plug it back in. Whatever shows up, right click and choose "Format...".

This happened to me before but it fixed itself somehow ages ago when I first got Vista.
Luckily Windows 7 doesn't have this issue...
