how do i disable it?

I use ESET NOD32 AV 4, and I got the same notifications. I disabled it by:

1) Toggle Advanced Mode
2) Press F5 to enter set up
3) Navigate to Tools
4) In the Tools section, navigate to "System Updates"
5) I changed the box to "No Updates"

That should work.
