I am aware that MP3 player technology updates practically every week, but before I resort to buying a new one, I want to check here if the small problem I'm getting can be fixed.

For some reason, as I scroll though my songs, the title on some of them is NOT what I actually typed. I scroll through any given folder, and I get a few songs labeled something similar to "ybp," except there are weird accent marks or SOMETHING over them. Is there a way I can fix this?

Try fixing the ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags with your favorite player.

The ID3 tags are the culprit, definitely. You can very easily change them on your computer if your MP3 player does not natively support it (which is probably the case). Hit up the files' properties in Explorer and look into the Details tab > Advanced. Or something like that, I only have uncompressed WAVs, which don't normally use ID3 tags, on my computer ATM (waiting for conversion to FLAC).

If you don't want to do that, there might be an option to change the view settings of files.
